Publishing my first book

I haven’t yet, but it is about to happen in 2024. Though I have written a few books before, actually publishing my writing is a big step for me. There was a book of poetry I put together before I joined the Army. Another one I wrote about Basic Combat Training. Then I put all of my journals together in a memoir at the end of my first enlistment. I didn’t publish any of these because I didn’t think anyone would read them. Still, I don’t think my latest book will get much exposure, but this one is different because it isn’t about me. I want the world to know how another life was lived, how this life reacted to the world, and how this life influenced the world in turn. I offer my work as an interpretation of the research I have done to trace the life of Mingo Sanders, First Sergeant of Company B, Twenty-Fifth Infantry Regiment.

This is the cover. It was quickly made using paint 3D. I’m aware of the hasty impression it gives but that works for me. All I was hoping for in a cover is there. The purpose of the book is to draw attention to the missing element of his headstone and how he doesn’t appear to be at rest without the honor of the full title of his rank.

Update, after a few rounds of copyediting it is finished. The book has been published and is available at the bookstore on lulu.com in eBook format but will be available in paperback soon. I am exploring how to connect the storefront on this website so the book can be purchased here. Hopefully, some other book sellers will pick it up for sale internationally.
