3rd Collection

Army Recuerdos 3rd Collection of music by Brian Michael Smith

The 3rd Collection of music recorded was the three albums Refugee, Family Lines, and On Your Way. When they were recorded, they were released to the public in video format through YouTube and Instagram. They were recorded using multi-track software from Garage Band and video production on iMovie on the iOS. Sheet music was not created for these albums, only song sheets.

Refugee is a collection of 10 songs from 2006 to 2018. With the exception of “Warsong” and “Just a Soldier”, all were written during my first enlistment in the US Army. The cover image is a photo morph technique I developed to give an artistic view of a picture of a refugee.

Family Lines is a collection of 10 songs from 2015 to 2017. The album title was originally “Flowers in a Wasteland” but took on the title tracks name. The cover photo was taken using a color swap camera filter on a field of flowers in Munich, Germany where I was on R&R leave during a deployment.

On Your Way is a collection of 10 songs from 2015 to 2019. The songs were written during my time as a Recruiter in Las Vegas. Two songs are adaptations of Audie Murphy’s poetry, “Crosses Grow” and “Freedom Flies”. The song “Parting Glass” is a traditional Scottish song. The cover photo was taken behind the Spring Valley Army Recruiting Station while I was practicing for a performance at the Durango High School Music Department.
