Lyrics:
He taught me in the beating morning
Always gentle never beating
Taught me in the beating evening
Taught me when the midday sun was beating me down
He healed the sickness beating people

Taught me how the drugs were beating me down
Taught me how the cigarettes were beating me down
Taught me how the booze was beating me down
About whatever was beating me
He fed the poor people beating hunger

Taught us how to pray, beating sin
Alone Gethsemane beating
He prayed blood sweat tears beating agony
They crowned him with thorns beating and scourging
Taught men how to keep from beating others down

He carried his cross after the beating
With love in his heart beating
Crucified then he died, the rain beating down
He rose again, the resurrection beating death
He spoke the truth they started beating him down
