He sat alone on the sidewalk
leaning against a church
his head in his hands
as people passed him by.
There were blood clots on his bare feet
no shoes within sight,
wearing a dirty and toren tuxedo
with a wedding gown nearby.
Thats when I Passed him by
Chasing fleeting beauty

His story played out before me
as I watched and tried not to cry
spent his whole life chasing beauty
And never was satisfied
by what he found
until one day late in his years
As he was painting a sidewalk portrait
Of a couple of newly weds
She caught his eye walking by
Fleeting Beauty

She was no different from other women
their true beauty revealed
to whom and when they choose
and to the rest it is concealed
He got her all the way to the altar
A voice spoke out from the mass
And she walked out of his generosity
They say it never lasts
When she refused
He felt so used
by fleeting beauty
