Ladies and Gentlemen, if you care about Reproductive rights, women’s healthcare, healthcare privacy, and economic independence please hear me out. States and the Federal government should not be about deciding when a human life is a person. You are a person before anyone recognizes you as a person, a person is created first, human flesh and blood second. Look around you at all of the things man made, including each other. They all have a purpose or had one at one time even if it was momentary or just to fulfill the need to create something.

A young woman I know, who’s privacy I will protect, had an abortion not long ago. She was influenced by people who didn’t encourage her to consider all of the options available or offer them to her. Bringing a new life into the world is the highest human calling, but not everyone can do it. For men, the best we can do is to give our lives for our friends, the women who are entitled to private healthcare.

In the early 2000’s I marched for life in Washington, DC to end abortion, but the only marching I do now is as a Soldier in the US Army. My belief that a unique individual life is formed at conception and endowed with unalienable rights will never change. To me, abortion will always be a form of killing, not just simply removing unwanted tissue. Views expressed are my own not the Department of Defense.

While working as an US Army Recruiter in Las Vegas, NV high schools I realized how our laws have normalized abortion, forming the younger generations view of abortion as simply removing an unwanted mass of tissue. Girls are getting pregnant now just to grow larger breasts, a wanted mass of tissue, using abortion as a cheap alternative to breast implants with no accountability for the life taken. Some states don’t even report the number of abortions anymore, including here in Washington DC. We deny our role in a holocaust of hundreds of millions of innocent human lives and justify our conscience through the federal institution of abortion.

This lack of accountability must end, which is why I think changes to the laws must be made, and after 50 years it’s time for Roe v Wade to go. States cannot be allowed to dehumanize children in their most vulnerable state of development as a viable fertilized embryo. Women cannot be lied to about their part in the killing of their children.

However, as a Soldier I accept that there are times when killing is morally justified. Every time our military kills in war we are scrutinized and held accountable for the lives we take. Wars are fought at many levels, space, air, land, and sea, within our countries, our cities, and homes, within our mind, our bodies, and the womb. Wars must only be fought for the greater good, to preserve peace, according to St Augustine’s just war theory. We can trust our government to wage just wars against our enemies, some of whom it would have been better if they had never been born.

We CAN trust women to make the same decision of how to preserve peace within their body. No one else can make that decision for her, it gets into free will, but everyone must be held accountable including abortion providers and employers providing insurance. Economic independence is a right that cannot be denied women by making their healthcare unaffordable, that equates to war profiteering. So, at the same time I call for an end to the limitless killing of Roe v Wade I also protest the limitation of women’s healthcare rights by outlawing all abortions.

In war, killing of the innocent is a war crime according to Geneva Convention law even if a country hasn’t signed it. A just punishment must be as private as the procedure obtained, and just as personal. As part of receiving an abortion, I propose the naming of the child should be required of the mother and the creation of a memorial to hold all the names of these children should be created. The mothers need not be the one to place it there, protecting her healthcare privacy, instead the doctor providing the abortion should, always respectful of the dead.

Only after admitting a problem exists can there be accountability and a recovery be made. On, 23 June 2022, that same young woman I mentioned earlier gave birth to her first child, an adorable girl with a limitless future. The next day, 24 June 2022, Roe v. Wade has been overturned by the Supreme court. We will see what happens tomorrow as we grow as people and as a society that values life, liberty, and happiness for all.
